One of my duties as a Relief CO at Brighton included the switchboard. This day I brought my camera with me and ended up taking photos of the signalbox on fire, after having taken the 999 call from the traffic regulator and connecting him to the emergency operator. Restricted working in and out of Brighton station remained in operation for several days. The stock in the foreground in Montpelier sidings is that of the overnight mail and newspaper train. Photo taken 1/10/84.
