73141 passes Chichester Yard with a Drayton to Lavant empty aggregates train. The unique French built side discharge hopper wagons were only used on this service and due to there size the only other route they were passed on was to Eastleigh for maintenance. The loaded trains started at Lavant on the former Midhurst branch, ran the few miles to Drayton to the east of Chichester for discharge into gravel pools. One of the shortest freight runs in the country? Slide dated 8/3/90. Photographer unknown.
