Back in days when as a BR employee the four free passes a year really were a ticket to ride. A blue ticket from Falmer to Kyle of Lochalsh or Thurso meant some very roundabout routes were used! We also got a priv rate with BR's holiday arm, Golden Rail and in 1983 and 1984 this resulted in a weeks stay at Stirling and Inverkip respectively. Here are a selection of slides from those trips in the late 1970's and early 1980's. Some of the captions will be wrong if you spot any errors please let me know. There are also images from my collection of purchased slides etc, where known the original photographer is credited.
