4EPB 5258 coach S14515S. Lots of broken windows, don't know what has happened here.
Thanks to Peter Gibbons for the following info:-
On the 4th March 1976 a 10lb IRA bomb exploded in a coach of an ECS working from Cannon Street to Southwark Depot (near Metropolitan Junction), which was formed from 0749 Sevenoaks to Cannon Street. As the ECS working was passing Cannon Street Signal box, running towards Metropolitan Junction, the bomb exploded, blowing part of the roof of that train. However the train in the picture was forming the 0843 Cannon Street to Gravesend passenger service and was running parallel to the ECS working when the bomb exploded. Unfortunately it caught the force of the explosion and eight passengers were injured.
Photo dated 4/3/76.
